2023 Lassegue
I loved this En Primeur, very happy to see it delivering in bottle, certainly in terms of the luscious character and texture of the tannins. A touch reductive at this early stage after ageing, but so much dark leafy berry fruit, fennel, cocoa bean, blueberry, damson, black cherry. 50% in new oak barrels. harvest September 18 to 28. Highest amount of Cabernet Franc in this wine to date, at 50% of the total blend, 3.67ph. Pierre Seillan winemaker.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Lassègue shoots from the glass with vibrant notes of red currant jelly, black raspberries, and juicy blackberries, plus suggestions of menthol, lilacs, and underbrush. The medium- to full-bodied palate is bright and refreshing with fine-grained tannins and lots of red and black fruit layers, finishing on a chalky note. The blend is 43% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon.
