Saint Prefert
The Domaine Saint Préfert is located in the legendary wine-growing region of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the southern Rhône Valley near Avignon. The name Châteauneuf-du-Pape, literally translated as "The Pope's New Seat", comes from the fact that Pope Clement moved his papal residence to Avignon in 1308. Fortunately, the neighbouring terroir is so unique that it produces wines that meet even the highest (papal) standards: the vines often grow as single vines on the most barren soil, directly on huge pebbles, the famous "galets", which are the remains of prehistoric glaciers.
