Tour Saint Christophe

In 2012, Peter Kwok and his daughter Karen bought Chateau Tour Saint Christophe in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, on the border with the town of Saint-Emilion, in the neighborhood of Barde-Haut, Troplong Mondot and Tertre Roteboeuf.

Today, just under twenty hectares are cultivated, around 80% of which are planted with Merlot and 20% with Cabernet Franc. The soils are characterized by red clay and Astéries limestone. The terroir tends to ripen late, but still brings a fresh acidity to the wine. The vineyards are now regarded as a garden and each plot is processed individually.

2012 was the first vintage that they vinified themselves. Perhaps a little more wood was used than would be the case today. In 2015, a new cellar with special attention to temperature control was completed and the first vintage, 2014, was processed in it. The increase in quality is evident. Significantly less SO2 is now used during vinification and the proportion of new wood has also been reduced. Part of the wine is already fermented in barriques. Some of the wine is also matured in 400-liter barrels and in foudres.

Tour Saint Christophe is managed by Jean-Christophe Meyrou (formerly Le Gay & La Violette). In 2022, Emmanuelle Fulchi (formerly Angelus) also joined his team and Michel Rolland is the consultant.

Tour Saint Christophe is now one of the top value-for-money wines in Saint-Emilion.
