A Burgundy project with a distinct style
Erni Loosen is one of the world’s most renowned producers of great Riesling wines. At the same time, he has long been deeply fascinated by Pinot Noir; especially that from its region of origin, Burgundy. For Erni Loosen, Riesling and Pinot Noir have much in common: Both are elegant, aromatic cool-climate grape varieties that reflect their terroir with remarkable precision and possess great aging potential.
With Perron de Mypont, his dream of producing his own wines in Burgundy became a reality in 2019. Erni Loosen acquired the east wing of the historic 15th-century Vieux Château de Puligny-Montrachet and embarked on a multi-year restoration project. At the same time, he founded his own négociant company to collaborate with select winemakers and producers in creating his own collection of Burgundian red and white wines; characterized by terroir, precision, elegance, and exceptional aging potential.

At our Perron de Mypont Masterclass in Vienna, we had the opportunity to delve deeper into this extraordinary Burgundy project together with Erni Loosen and Manoël Bouchet. The presentation impressively demonstrated just how much history, passion, and commitment to quality lie behind Perron de Mypont.
The personal discussion about the winery’s origins, working with Burgundian terroirs, and the wines’ stylistic characteristics was particularly fascinating. The master class offered valuable insight into a project that uniquely combines tradition, heritage, and modern precision.
