Something of an icon, and in a vintage like this we are close to vinous perfection, above all with all that Cabernet Franc in the blend. This is incredible texturally, if aromatically a little closed at present. In the mouth the texture is sublime silken sheets willowing in the breeze. For a wine with such density, this is floaty, aerial and lifted, not at all linear, blocky or stratified as you perhaps expect it to be. Sinuous is the word, with lovely eddies and ripples of freshness titillating the tongue. So aerial and gravitydefying given the tannic volume and sheer midpalate density. Wow! A wine to covet (or at least one that I do!). 99.

Peony, violets, cassis flowers, chalky tannins, beautiful flowering and fabulous wine, love the curve upwards through the palate, extremely sleek, this is the best I have tasted from Maya. Maya Dalla Valle and Andy Erickson winemakers. 8.5ha estate. François Vignaud director.
