So enchanting is the aroma that I could hold the glass and keep smelling it all day! Château Giscours 2025 turns like a kaleidoscope in slow motion, its layers shifting with every flicker of light. The grace of iris drifts past, only for a basket of mist-kissed blueberries to appear; the spice of licorice and star anise barely fades before dissolving into a lush world of bayberry and cherry juice. Nothing is released all at once, everything moves, breathes, and transforms, the fragrance flowing in quiet succession, serene yet alive. And if the nose already invites surrender, the palate seals it. What follows is a moment of absolute purity of freshness, as if countless chilled bayberries melt one by one, their sweet, vivid juice spreading across the tongue without end, carrying you far beyond the present moment.
96-98/100 Alexandre Ma
(Margaux; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon; 38% Merlot; 1% Cabernet Franc; 1% Petit Verdot; 13% alcohol; aging in French oak barrels, around 50% of them new; Thomas Duclos is the consultant here; tasted at Giscours with Jerome Poisson after also tasting at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin). Delicate, poised, a little introvert and, like some of its neighbours, subtle yet authentic in its florality - iris, peony and some rose petals. This opens beautifully. Soft and intensely layered, ample and generous, with gracious cashmere tannins, this is a very strong showing from Giscours. The fruit is pixilated in its detail and covers a broad spectral range, from bright, crisp redcurrant all the way to mulberry and black cherry. Exciting in its energy and dynamism over the palate and very long on the finish. There's a delightful cool mirrorpool feel to this that I really love. Succulent more than opulent, gentle yet authoritative.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Giscours erupts from the glass with an intense perfume of kirsch, raspberry coulis, and fresh blueberries, followed by hints of rose bud tea, lavender, wild thyme, and graphite. The light- to medium-bodied palate is wonderfully elegant and refreshing with soft, silky tannins and a long, perfumed finish. Impressive!
