(Pessac-Léognan; 64.5% Sémillon; 35.5% Sauvignon Blanc; a final yield of 23 hl/ha; pH 3.2; 14.5% alcohol; tasted at La Mission Haut-Brion). The freshest of these and the one with the most tension and uplift from the palate. Incredibly taut and almost electrically charged in its zingy, sapid raciness. Eucalyptus, rosemary, lemon thyme, verbena, gooseberry and greengage, a little tomato leaf too and white stone fruits. This is wonderfully ample with incredibly fine cystalline layers of pure citrus-inflected fruit juice. Built almost like a fine red, and indeed with just a trace of tannin on the finish. Colossal in frame, but with all the freshness to carry that off.
95-97/100 Colin Hay
A subtle reductive note interweaves with clear floral and fruit aromas, sketching the wine’s outline from the very first moment. The palate is gentle and flowing, moving smoothly across the mouth, combining the fullness of velvet with the softness of silk. In a 2025 vintage where many estates struggle to manage acidity, Château La Mission Haut-Brion draws a straight and luminous line of acidity with ease, clean and precise, accompanied by a cool and exacting minerality that shapes a taut, cable-like structure with both tension and resilience. Deep on the palate, broom quietly takes root, gradually unfolding and blossoming as the tasting progresses, leaving behind a light, pure, and lingering fragrance.
95-97/100 Alexandre MA
This is Sémillon dominant in its character, preserved citrus, white flowers, lemon, great tension and grip, climbs up through the palate, huge waves of secondary flavours and aromatics, savoury and thoroughly charming. Harvest August 14 to 21. 31% new oak, 23hl/ha yield. 3.22ph. Grégoire Bucaille vineyard manager.
