(Saint-Émilion; 75% Merlot; 25% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 38 hl/ha; pH 3.28; 13.6% alcohol; tasted at Le Pin with Jacques Thienpont, Diana Berrouet Garcia and Vianney Gravereaux). Divine and quite distinctive aromatically, with a little salty twang and a nutty note too wrapped around the dark berry fruits. This is very soft and delicate, the extraction clearly incredibly gentle. I love the graphite, more and more present with aeration. This evolves in the glass, becoming darker in its fruit signature and more floral too. It's incredibly lifted and aerial, staggeringly beautiful and wonderfully gracious. One of the most subtle and beautiful wines of the vintage. There's great charm and personality and absolutely no sensation of oak (with greater use of foudres now). Fabulous.

I visited the estate at the end of 2025, tasting unfinished lots alongside Cyrille Thienpont, and even then, I was convinced that L’IF 2025 would be something out of the ordinary. From the first sip, a line of sea-salt freshness steps forward and remains, steady and unwavering, following every rise and turn across the palate with an almost loyal presence. French peony, still holding morning dew, and cherry with a luminous sheen unfold beneath the light of vibrant acidity, casting a clear, radiant glow. To me, L’IF 2025 feels like a dancer in crystal shoes, spinning and leaping on a summer terrace, moving with an effortless sense of freedom.

Explodes out of the glass, a wine where you can easily read the terroir, intense with oyster shell salinity, chalky tannins, lovely grip, slow and steady unrolling, olive pit, baking spices, fragrant iris and peony character. Clings on, and this is truly an expertly-handled expression of the soils, 3.3ph. 50% new oak. 3.28 pH. Harvest September 11 to 19, now in full production, 8ha, youngest vines from 2019.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 L'If jumps from the glass with vivacious notes of wild blueberries, black raspberries, and lavender, giving way to hints of mint tea and dried roses. The medium-bodied palate reveals very fine-grained tannins with a crisp backbone and shimmery blue fruit, finishing long and floral. Very pretty! The blend is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. The alcohol is 13.6% and the pH is 3.28.
