(Pomerol; 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc; 14.5% ABV; tasted at Bélair Monange). Sublime aromatically, and everything I hope for in Trotanoy – which has always, let's be honest, been a personal coup de coeur of mine. This has that sumptuous, slightly haunting beauty of the vintage and the elegance that only top Pomerol can attain. The florality has me in raptures – lily of the valley, mimosa and violet, above all violet. Deep, rich, layered and with a staggeringly concentrated yet ethereal mid-palate. I simply adore this. The freshness and the crystalline purity of the fruit is unique and utterly beguiling.

Signature Trotanoy concentration, muscular and intense, it will run and run. Shows a brooding quality that this wine can specialise in during its early years, and we are truly and fully in the slow and steady 50 year category of Trotanoy. Espresso, pumice stone, sage, roasted coffee beans, olive pit, cassis. 19hl/h, Harvest September 1 to 19. 50% new oak.
96/100 Jane Anson
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Trotanoy is uncharacteristically gregarious at this youthful stage, bursting from the glass with pronounced notes of plum pudding and baked black cherries, plus suggestions of sandalwood, clove oil, and dusty soil with a waft of iron ore. The big, rich, full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves, supported by firm, chewy tannins and a lively line, finishing long and spicy. The blend is 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. This is aging in French oak barrels for 16–18 months, 50% new.
93-95/100 Lisa Perrotti-Brown
With dark and deep with notes of smoke, leather, tobacco and wet soil, Trotanoy is built in a very classic way for this château. It has loads of deep, intense, strong fruit and cassis and a somewhat strict backbone of deep fruit and tannins. All is very well integrated and this massive offering will benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age.
