Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere
Château Canon La Gaffelière is located at the foot of the slope south of the medieval town of Saint-Émilion. Its terroir consists of highly filtering clay-limestone and clay-sand soils with an extremely high heat capacity.
The almost perfect balance of varieties between Merlot and Cabernet due to this soil composition is rather atypical for the appellation. However, on the warm soils of Canon La Gaffelière, which favour early ripening, the Cabernets can develop superbly and thus complement the opulence of the Merlots with extraordinary power and aromatic complexity. This is the basis for the natural elegance and finesse of the wines from Canon La Gaffelière.
