Domaine Simon Blanchard
Simon is originally from the Loire and has been working full-time as a consultant for Stéphane Derenoncourt since 2006. Due to his origins, he favors the cru philosophy over the typical Bordeaux blending philosophy. The winery has been certified biodynamic since 2024.
A key feature of the vinification is the use of whole bunches, as is also done at Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion. Taransaud and Stockinger are used exclusively for the barrels. Around 20-30% new wood is used for Au Champ de la Fenêtre, in this case the new wood comes from Stockinger. For the Guitard, on the other hand, the new wood comes from Taransaud.
