Chateau Ferriere
At the end of the 17th century, Gabriel Ferriere, a famous shipbroker, acquired this estate, which included the best vineyards in the village of Margaux, and gave it his name. The Ferriere family, which had passed from father to son, worked for Louis XV, among others, and wanted to produce an excellent wine for their numerous receptions. Two centuries later, the château became their pride and joy when it was awarded the title of 3è Grand Cru Classé in 1855. At the end of the 1980s, after almost 300 years in the hands of the Ferriere family, another Bordeaux family, the Merlaut family, became the owners of the estate. Bernadette Merlaut-Villars set about restoring the estate to its former glory.
