Inglenook
In the current issue of Falstaff magazine, the 2019 Rubicon from the Inglenook winery was awarded a perfect 100/100 points by editor-in-chief Peter Moser, while the 2018 vintage received an outstanding 97/100 points.
The Inglenook winery was founded in Rutherford in 1879 by Gustav Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain, bon vivant and entrepreneur. It is one of the most historically renowned estates in the USA. In 1975, the well-known American film director Francis Ford Coppola bought part of the winery and the remaining part in 1995, and in 2011 he was also able to acquire the naming rights for Inglenook. Since 2011, the Frenchman Philippe Bascaules has been head cellar master, a job he also holds at the Bordelaiser 1er Cru Chateau Margaux. The 95 hectares of vineyards have been certified organic since 1991. The house's top wine is the Cabernet Sauvignon-based Rubicon.
