A Look Across Six Generations
For more than 150 years, the Henschke name has been closely connected with winemaking in Australia. Johann Henschke laid the foundations of the estate in Eden Valley, and today the winery is proudly guided by the sixth generation of the family, continuing a remarkable tradition of Australian fine wine. At the heart of the estate are wines with a strong sense of place and provenance, above all the legendary Mount Edelstone Shiraz. The 2022 vintage will be presented at the Portfolio Tasting in Vienna, alongside a remarkable glimpse into the past: a bottle of Mount Edelstone from 1956, a vintage made by Johann Henschke's grandfather.
More Than 150 Years of Family History and Great Terroirs
Henschke combines six generations of winemaking with the distinctive terroirs of Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills. A diverse range of sites and grape varieties, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro and Riesling, shapes the character of the estate's portfolio. At the centre are wines defined by provenance, depth and longevity. Icons such as Mount Edelstone and Hill of Grace are today recognised among Australia's most celebrated fine wines, reflecting the Henschke family's philosophy of caring for their vineyards and preserving them for generations to come.
