Domaine Latour-Giraud
Domaine Latour-Giraud is a historic, highly regarded winery in the heart of Meursault in Burgundy. The history of this family-run estate dates back to the 17th century. The estate in its present form was established in 1958 following the marriage of the Giraud and Latour-Boillot families and is internationally renowned above all for its outstanding, mineral-driven and long-lived Chardonnays.
Under the direction of Jean-Pierre Latour, supported by his wife Christine, the winery places great emphasis on meticulous and natural winemaking. The grapes are harvested by hand and processed with the utmost care. The white wines age on the lees in French oak barrels, which lends them elegance and depth without overshadowing the subtle terroir aromas. The estate covers approximately 10 hectares, with white wines accounting for about 80% of the production, primarily grown in the five Premier Cru vineyards of Genevrières, Charmes, Perrières, Bouchères, and Poruzot.
Allen Meadows of Burghound.com raves about the wines from Latour-Giraud:
“I have said this before but if you're not searching out these wines, you're missing out on one of the best kept secrets in Meursault. They consistently offer outstanding quality for quite reasonable prices.”
