Domaine Bournet-Lapostolle
Domaine Bournet-Lapostolle's Clos Apalta made its debut in 1997 and is now one of Chile's cult wines. The vineyard is located at the entrance to the Apalta Valley. The 60 hectares of vineyards lie like an amphitheater, facing mainly south-east, which is quite rare in the Colchagua Valley. This limits the amount of sunlight and protects the old vines planted in barren granite soil from extreme heat. The Tinguiririca river and the Andean hills that surround the vineyard ensure that the vines are exposed to the weather in a balanced way: At sunset, the foothills protect the grapes from the sun's rays and prevent sunburn damage at this hottest time of day. For some years now, the vineyards have also been cultivated according to biodynamic standards.
“Our organic vision is to protect not only the purity of the fruit in our wines, but also the purity of our environment and the people who work in our vineyards. Inspired by our experience in biodynamic vineyard management, we allow the terroir and the wines to truly work in harmony with each other. The area becomes self-sufficient: soil, plants, people and wildlife interact in a closed and autonomous system.”
