The 2021 Clos Saint-Julien emerges from a tiny 1.2 hectare parcel in the center of Saint-Émilion. Proprietor Catherine Poupon-Nouvel has crafted a stylish, caressing wine that captures the character of the year so well. Dark purplish fruit, rose petal, spice, lavender and blood orange open gently. This is a pretty understated vintage for Clos Saint-Julien, but the balance is there. I especially like the energy.
