2016 Troplong Mondot
The 2016 Troplong Mondot has a deep garnet color. It bursts from the glass with bold notions of plum preserves, blueberry pie, and Black Forest cake, leading to wafts of camphor, violets, and crushed rocks, with a touch of cumin seed. The palate is full-on, full-bodied: a beautiful monster of a wine delivering an explosion of black fruit preserves and exotic spices, matched by a lively line and super-velvety tannins, finishing long, long, long. One for the hedonists!
98/100 Lisa Perrotti-Brown; The Wine Independent
Troplong Mondot is a very pure wine, fruity, deep and intense with lots of fresh fruit and spices. It offers a long and crunchy taste with notes of smooth mature fruits followed by a fine and long, clean aftertaste. In the wine you find notes of sweet cherries and velvety and elegant notes of red berries. This is a good Troplong that you can already start enjoying now
96/100 Ivar Bjurner; The Wine Independent
Richly textured, full of mouthfeel and floral edges, hard to argue with, still young at the 10 year mark, luscious, graphite and crushed rocks, with the salt-scrape and bitter fennel that is essential to offer balance among all this exuberance. Same high alcohols as 2015 but takes it far more in its stride, this will be a great wine for those with the patience to wait. Last year with Xavier Pariente in charge at the estate with Michel Rolland consulting winemaker.
