2016 L'Evangile
L’Évangile has a classic, fruity nose, very fine with well structured fruit. The nose is sweet and jammy, with notes of truffles and mocha and the taste well built and impressive with a fine mid palate and a long finely structured aftertaste. A very classic wine, impressive and a wine that should be able to provide excellent entertainment for the next 25+ years.
97/100 Ivar Bjurner; The Wine Independent
Muscular, concentrated, with well-judged slate and pomegranate character, a ton of tobacco leaf and liquorice, good length, touch of citrus peel, draws out through the palate, lovely stuff. More balanced alcohols than the 2015.
96/100 Jane Anson
L'Evangile 2016 is deep garnet in color. The nose is seriously closed at first, eventually opening to show notes of prunes, blackberry preserves, and Christmas cake, followed by hints of licorice, menthol, sauteed herbs, and tapenade. Full-bodied, the palate is taut and muscular, featuring firm, chewy tannins and balancing freshness, finishing on an earthy note.
