2009 Colore IGT Toscana Rosso
Dried flowers, incense, richly aromatic strawberry and red cherry fruits. This is an exceptional wine, a little more smoky grilled notes than you might find in Colore today, as the wine provides a window into a transitional time at the estate, when owner Bibi Graetz began to strip back his winemaking style, starting first with the Testamatta in this vintage, where Colore was fermented and aged using 100% new oak with longer maceration than today. Extremely generous of Bibi to show us two vintages of each wine in both the older and newer style. The grapes were sourced from three vineyards of Lamole, Vincigliata, Siena, natural yeast fermentation, aged all plots aged separately for three years before final bottling.
