(Saint-Émilion; 98% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 26 hl/ha; 13.5% ABV; tasted at Bélair Monange). It's difficult to follow Trotanoy, but that is its place in the Moueix line-up. It does so effortlessly and the contrast between the two is fascinating. This is a little more berry-oriented in its fruit profile, a lot more vertical in the presentation of the fruit, with the divinely-soft and pixelating limestone-chalky tannins shaping this effortlessly and pulling the fruit back to the spine to render this very linear, if never strict (such is the finesse of those tannins). This is more precise and focussed still and equally elegant. We have a little more rose petal florality and less of the Pomerol violets, of course; but it is, as ever, one of the most floral of the St-Émilion stars. It too is divine and it is, yet again, another candidate for the leading wine in the appellation.

Gorgeous nuanced crushed red rose petal nose, this has a lot of juice running right through the palate and is totally delicious, cherry pit, savoury blueberry and cranberry fruits, a ton of limestone signature, long and drawn out on the finish. Again a limestone junkie wine but here you will definitely get your fix. 26hl/h, Harvest September 4 to 19. 50% new oak for ageing.
97/100 Jane Anson
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Bélair-Monange is a little closed to start off, needing some swirling to wake up scents of rose bud tea, camphor, cinnamon stick, and crushed rocks, leading to a core of plum preserves and blueberry compote, with a lifted waft of preserved mandarin peel. The full-bodied palate is packed with powerful black fruit preserves flavors, framed by velvety tannins and a refreshing line, finishing long and perfumed. The blend is 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. This is aging in French oak barrels for 16–18 months, 50% new.
95-97/100 Lisa Perrotti-Brown
Jammy and crunchy, deep and intense with finely structured peppery tannins and a round and velvety, cassis filled taste of cherries, liquorice, cacao and fruit. This is a very well built, juicy and fresh wine. It should develop into a classic example of the style from this château and be drinkable at an earlier stage than normal.
