2023 Belair Monange
Auslieferung bis zum Herbst 2026!
Delivery until Fall 2026!
This is stunning, high floral aromatics, and a sense of uplift and grace. Love the juicy black and red fruits, the salt scrape and pumice stone texture, a beautiful wine from a fabulous location on the limestone plateau of St Emilion. 50% new oak, 55% of overall production. The stunning new cellars designed by Herzog and de Meuron were officially inaugurated June 2023, although this was 2nd vintage vinified in them. Still 100% Merlot, but Cabernet Franc will be reintroduced over next few years once replantings are finished.
97/100 Jane Anson
The 2023 Belair-Monange, 100% Merlot, is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a few moments of patient swirling to allow delicate notes of warm black cherries, plum preserves, and raspberry coulis to emerge, followed by alluring hints of iris, cinnamon stick, and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut with tightly wound red and black berry layers, framed by fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note. This is breathtakingly gorgeous!
