Straight-up gorgeous stuff that excels on all counts, the 2021 Château Petit Gravet Aîné comes from a tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard located just west of Canon-La-Gaffelière, in deeper, sandy clay soils. A unique blend of 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot resting in new barrels, it offers a brilliant array of cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and scorched earth. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has everything in the right places, perfect balance, and silky, polished tannins. It's a real shocker in this challenging vintage that readers should snatch up!
