The 2019 Blend 1 trocken is a pure Illmitz Zweigelt that was aged for four years in medium-toasted barriques. It opens with a fascinating deep, intense and elegant nose of concentrated red fruits, such as cowberries and small red plums, intermingled with Earl Grey, toast and noble chocolate notes. The wine is elegant and silky on the pristine palate, juicy and beautifully balanced and reveals finely grained tannins and fine salinity on the finish that makes it an outstanding red wine from the Seewinkel.
