2015 Clos Saint Emilion Philippe "115"
The 2015 Château Clos Saint Emilion Philippe is a pure Merlot blend that underwent a long maceration of two months with no new oak, just one-year-old, 300-liter barrels from the little-known Miquel cooperage. It has a ripe and opulent bouquet with macerated red cherries, licorice and cassis, the wood neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins. It actually demonstrates more sophistication in the mouth than on the nose: well defined, quite tensile with a slightly savory finish that lingers, hints of coca just on the aftertaste. Once the aromatics up their game, this could be a very fine Saint Emilion. (Wine Advocate)
