2004 TBA No. 8 Traminer
Medium golden yellow colour. Delicately smoky, vegetal fruit, good hints of Tramineran in view of the high gradation. Clearly dominated by wood on the palate, still a little tattered at the moment. Rich in extract and long, needs a lot of time and patience, mineral and finely flavoured, will probably need a few years to consolidate.
Kracher’s 2004 No 8 Traminer Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague is impressively-scented with candied rose petal and violets, spiced lychee, and vanilla. At only 9.5% alcohol, and given its low acidity, this T.B.A. is struggling a bit to deal with its 239 grams of residual sugar and an overtly resinous note of new wood. Candied flowers and cinnamon candy linger.
