Robert Groffier, Frankreich
(from 80-year-old vines; 80% vendange entier_; 50% new oak): Good dark red with ruby highlights. Pure, vibrant nose offers blackberry, violet, spices, crushed stone and graphite minerality. Juicy, intense and gripping, with a serious spine of brisk acidity giving the purple fruit flavors a very primary character. Light herb and black pepper notes from the stems are buffered by the wines creaminess of fruit. Terrific tension in the mouth.
